You're standing at Farmleigh, the official guest house of the Irish state. It sits up high above the River Liffey, just northwest of the Phoenix Park, in Castleknock. Have a look around. The estate covers about 78 acres. There are mature cypress, pine and oak trees, a boating pond, a walled garden and a sunken garden. And if you're lucky, you'll spot a herd of rare Kerry cattle, a native Irish breed.
