You're standing at the National Museum of Finland, on Mannerheimintie in the centre of Helsinki. Take a good look at the building first. It looks more like a medieval church or castle than a museum. The architects Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren and Eliel Saarinen drew on Finland's medieval churches and castles. It's a striking example of National Romanticism. The eye-catcher is the tall tower, with a brick spire and a copper roof.
