You're standing at the Arch of Galerius, right in the middle of Thessaloniki, where Egnatia Street meets Dimitriou Gounari Street. Locals simply call it Kamara, the arch. Take a look at those heavy pillars. They're around seventeen hundred years old. The arch went up in 298 and 299 and was dedicated in 303, to celebrate the Roman emperor Galerius and his victory over the Persians of the Sassanid Empire.
