You're standing at Fort bij Asperen, on the dike of the river Linge. This round tower fort was part of the New Dutch Waterline, a defence line where the land could be flooded to stop an enemy. A passage ran through the line right here, and this fort guarded it. It's named after the little town of Asperen, just next door.
