You're standing on Roosevelt Square in Zagreb, in front of the Mimara Museum. Take a look at this big two-storey building. It's shaped like a U and looks like an Italian Renaissance town palace. But it was never a palace. It was built between 1894 and 1895 as a school. Two German architects from Leipzig, Alfred Ludwig and Ljudevit Teodor Hülssner, designed it. Schools across the Austro-Hungarian Empire were their speciality. The building opened when Emperor Franz Joseph visited Zagreb in 1895.
