You're standing at the Evoluon in Eindhoven. It's easy to see what makes it special: it looks as if a flying saucer has just landed. The concrete dome is seventy-seven metres across. It's made of two shells, the top one placed upside down on the bottom one, resting on V-shaped columns. What you can't see: a hundred and sixty-nine kilometres of steel cable holding the concrete together.
