You're standing at the Vorstengraf in Oss, the Chieftain's Grave, the largest burial mound in the Netherlands. It was once three metres high and fifty-four metres across. Around 600 BC it was piled up from slabs of heath turf. Look around: the posts in the grass mark part of its old edge. And the Zwaardweg road cuts right through it. On the other side, a steel plate shows how high the ground was back then.
