You're standing at Ćele Kula, the Skull Tower of Niš. What you see from outside is a chapel. It was built around the tower between 1892 and 1894, designed by architect Dimitrije Leko, to protect it. Money for it was collected all over Serbia. Next to the chapel is a bust of Stevan Sinđelić, the man at the heart of this story.
