You're standing at the former Crveni Krst concentration camp in Niš, in southeastern Serbia. The name means Red Cross. That sounds strange for a place like this, but the camp was named after a Red Cross facility nearby. Take a look at the buildings around you. They were once military barracks. And every one of them is still here. This is one of the few Nazi camps in Europe preserved in its entirety, and the only one in the former Yugoslavia.
