You're standing at the Etnografiska museet, Stockholm's Museum of Ethnography. It sits in Museiparken, in the Gärdet district. Take a look at the entrance first. There's a totem pole there, and it comes with quite a story. In 1929 a totem pole was taken from the Haisla, an Indigenous nation on Canada's west coast, and brought to this museum. Only in 2007, after years of negotiation, did it go home. In return, the Haisla gave the museum a contemporary replica. That's the one you're looking at. The museum has sent other objects back to their countries of origin too.
