You're standing on the Burg, right in the heart of Bruges, in front of the City Hall. It's one of the oldest city halls in the Low Countries, and the city has been run from here for more than six centuries. Take a look at that pale stone façade. Count Louis of Male laid the foundation stone in 1376, master mason Jan Roegiers was in charge, and the whole thing wasn't finished until 1421.
