You're standing at the Kunstmuseum Basel, widely seen as the most important art museum in Switzerland. The main building on Sankt Alban-Graben dates from 1936. Architects Paul Bonatz and Rudolf Christ spent five years building it. Step into the courtyard and the arcade at the front. Since 1975 there's been a permanent light installation there by the American artist Dan Flavin, dedicated to Urs Graf.
