Bath Abbey in Bath and North East Somerset

You're standing at Bath Abbey, the Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Start with the west front. On either side of the big arched window, two stone ladders run upwards, with angels climbing them towards heaven. That's Jacob's Ladder from the Bible. There's an old story that Bishop Oliver King dreamed of angels on a ladder here. But that tale only surfaced about a hundred years later, so take it with a pinch of salt. Beside the door stand Peter and Paul themselves.
