You're standing on the Long Market in Gdańsk, right at the corner where Long Lane opens onto the square. In front of you rises the Main City Hall, with its slender tower. After St. Mary's Church, this is the tallest building in the old Main City. Look all the way up to the top. Up there gleams a gilded weathervane shaped like a little statue of the Polish King Sigismund II Augustus. He's been keeping an eye on the wind since 1561. The same tower also holds a carillon.
