You're standing at St. Mary's Church in Gdańsk, one of the largest brick churches in the world. Locals call it the Crown of Gdańsk, and once you look up, you'll see why. Look at the walls: plain brick, with tall, narrow pointed windows. Every corner carries a little turret with a metal cap. Been to the Netherlands? They might look familiar. Similar turrets sit on the Ridderzaal in The Hague and on the two great churches of Leiden.
