You're standing at the Crackstate in Heerenveen. A state is a Frisian manor house, and this is a fine example. First, look at the moat around the building, and then at the bridge. Set into the bridge is a stone with the year 1775. The gate in front of the bridge is younger and comes from somewhere else entirely: the area around Hoorn, dated 1819.
