You're standing at Museum Belvédère in Heerenveen, a museum of modern and contemporary art. Look how long that building is. It's a hundred and four metres long and only thirteen metres wide, a narrow, stretched-out display case. Architect Eerde Schippers designed it, and in 2006 it was named Building of the Year by the Dutch architects' association. Notice the water, too: the Prinsenwijk canal runs right underneath the museum.
