You're standing on Petřín Hill, right at the foot of the Petřín Lookout Tower. Look up. Does that steel lattice ring a bell? It should. This tower looks a lot like the Eiffel Tower, and that's no accident. In 1889, members of the Club of Czech Tourists went to the world exhibition in Paris and came home inspired. They raised the money for a tower of their own. Construction started in March 1891, for a big jubilee exhibition in Prague, and it was done in just four months.
