You're standing at the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, right in the heart of Dijon. First, take in that long, orderly façade of pale stone, with its columns and triangular pediments. It doesn't look very medieval, and that's because it mostly isn't. Most of what you see dates from the seventeenth and especially the eighteenth century, when architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart redesigned the complex in a neoclassical style.
