The story

You're standing at the Clock Tower of Tirana, right in the centre of Albania's capital. Just beside you is the Et'hem Bey Mosque and its minaret. The two belong together. The poet Haxhi Et'hem Bey built the mosque with his father, and then he added this tower, finished around 1822. Another source says building went on until 1830, paid for partly by the city's wealthy families.
