You're standing at Theopetra Cave, just north of the village of Theopetra in Thessaly. Look at the big limestone rock in front of you. The cave sits on its northeast side, about three kilometres south of Kalambaka. The rock itself is mind-bogglingly old. It formed in the Upper Cretaceous, somewhere between 135 and 65 million years ago.
