You're standing in the Stadspark, the city park of Kampen, next to a quiet monument called Smekende handen, which means Pleading Hands. Look at the top first. On a round column rest two bronze hands, pressed together as if in prayer. They stand for a plea for peace and freedom. It's a simple image, but it stays with you.
