Biblioteca Joanina in Coimbra

You're standing at the Biblioteca Joanina, right at the heart of the University of Coimbra. This Baroque library is often called one of the most beautiful libraries in the world. From the outside you might not guess it, so start by looking at the entrance. Above the door you'll spot Portugal's national coat of arms. That's no accident. This was a royal project.
