You're standing in the Teixeira de Mattos Park in Beekbergen, at the village's resistance memorial. Start with the long stone lying on the ground. It's about two metres long, a pale yellowish white, and it slowly rises while getting narrower. That's deliberate. The stone stands for the road that grew harder and harder for those who joined the resistance. At the end of that road is the cross, made of reddish-brown sandstone. Carved into the memorial are the years 1940 to 1945.
