You're standing at Fort De Roovere, near Halsteren, right by the Brabantse Wal ridge. It might look like a patch of green with some ramparts and water, but this is an earthen fort from 1628. It was built on a high sandy ridge as part of the West Brabant Water Line. In times of danger, the whole area around here could be flooded, using a sluice near Steenbergen.
