You're standing at the Old Castle, the Altes Schloss, right in the heart of Stuttgart on Schillerplatz. Look at those thick walls and round towers. This is one of the oldest spots in the city. Around the year 950 there was already a castle here, a water castle with a moat around it. Its job was to protect a stud farm, a garden where horses were bred.
