You're standing at the El Badi Palace, in the old kasbah on the south side of Marrakesh. What you see now is mostly bare walls of rammed earth. Hard to imagine, but this was once a palace dressed in gold, onyx and marble. Its name means something like 'the Incomparable', one of the ninety-nine names of God in Islam.
