You're standing at the Atatürk Mask in Buca, a district of İzmir. Look up at the hillside. A huge concrete face is gazing down at you: Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey. It's forty-two metres tall. That makes it the highest relief sculpture in Turkey and the tenth highest in the world. Getting a bit of a Mount Rushmore feeling? You're not the only one.
