You're standing at Schwetzingen Palace, the summer home of the Electors Palatine. Through the gate on the Schlossplatz lies a courtyard. The little gatehouses on either side now hold a museum shop and a café. Straight ahead, on the west side, is the main building. Look closely and you'll notice the layout is slightly crooked. That's because it still rests on walls and foundations of a medieval moated castle. The wings to your left and right once held workrooms. Since 1953, the south wing has housed a law school.
