You're standing at the Saalburg, a Roman fort on the main ridge of the Taunus hills, northwest of Bad Homburg. No Roman fort in Germany has been rebuilt as completely as this one. Take a look at the walls and gates. Every gate is flanked by two towers, yet the rounded corners have none. The Romans whitewashed the outer wall and painted fake blocks on it, so it looked like neatly cut stone.
