You're standing in the Taunus hills near Bad Homburg, at a spot where the Roman Empire once came to an end. This is the line of the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes, Rome's outer frontier between the Rhine and the Danube. It ran for about 550 kilometres, from Rheinbrohl on the Rhine all the way to Eining on the Danube.
