You're standing by the Royal Liver Building, on Liverpool's Pier Head. Look right up first. On top of the two clock towers sit two copper birds, each about five and a half metres tall. These are the Liver birds, the city's emblem, keeping watch over Liverpool and the sea. They were designed by Carl Bernard Bartels.
