You're standing on the Ness of Brodgar, a narrow strip of land on Mainland, the main island of Orkney. Have a look around. There's water on both sides: the freshwater Loch of Harray on one side, the brackish Loch of Stenness on the other. To the northwest is the Ring of Brodgar. To the southeast stand the Stones of Stenness. And to the east lies the chambered cairn of Maeshowe. You're right in the middle of a Stone Age landscape.
