You're standing at the National Museum in Poznań, one of the largest museums in Poland. The building in front of you dates from 1904. It was designed by architect Carl Hinckeldyen. Now look at the north wing. That part is much younger. Architect Marian Trzaska drew it up around 1970, but it only opened to the public in 2001, after interior designer Witold Gyurkovich adapted it. Old and new, side by side.
