You're standing at the Augustiner Museum in Freiburg. This building was once a monastery of the Augustinian friars, and its big church is now the heart of the museum. Have a look at the west front facing Augustinerplatz. The old church was given a new entrance there, with a foyer that opens straight onto the square. If you walk up to the porch, peek inside. Even from out here in the dark you can make out the Kaiser windows, medieval stained glass from Freiburg Minster.
