You're standing at Falkland Palace, the royal palace of the Stewart kings of Scotland. Take a look at the long south wing in front of you. Right at the bottom are small gunloops. Above them sit the little windows of the private lodgings. One floor higher, the big paired windows stand out. They belong to the Chapel Royal. Between them are niches with weathered statues, paid for in 1539 to a craftsman known as Peter the Flemishman. To the left is the gatehouse tower, built in 1541. That's your way in.
