You're standing at SPENS, the big sports and business centre of Novi Sad. Its official name is Sportski i poslovni centar Vojvodina, but hardly anyone calls it that. Everyone just says SPENS. The nickname comes from the very first event held here. In April 1981 the complex opened with the World Table Tennis Championships, and back then that tournament was called SPENS '81. The name simply stuck.
