You're standing on Chamberlain Square, at the entrance of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Start by looking up at the clock tower. Locals call it Big Brum. Below it is a tall portico topped by a triangular pediment. Sculptor Francis John Williamson carved an allegory there of Birmingham contributing to the fine arts. When the museum opened, that tower and portico were considered the most striking parts of the whole building.
