Kos Asklepieion in Municipality of Kos

You're standing at the Asclepieion of Kos, the most important archaeological site on the island. Take a look around. You're about four kilometres outside the island's capital, on a hill covered in cypress trees, almost a hundred metres above the sea. In ancient times this was a sanctuary and a hospital in one, dedicated to Asclepius, the god of medicine.
