You're standing in front of the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire, the largest museum in Geneva and one of the most important in Switzerland. First, take in the shape of it. It's a big square block, each side sixty metres long, wrapped around an inner courtyard. Architect Marc Camoletti designed it in the grand Beaux-Arts style, and it went up between 1903 and 1910. The spot itself is special too: this is where the old ring of city fortifications used to run.
