You're standing at Hanover's New Town Hall, on the southern edge of the city centre. Take a good look. Does this really look like a town hall? It's more like a castle. The building dates from the era of Emperor Wilhelm II and blends all sorts of styles. Behind it lies the Maschpark, ten hectares of green, with the town hall sitting in it like a fairy-tale palace.
