You're standing on Place Saint-Jean, in front of Lyon Cathedral. Start with the west front. It's Gothic, with three portals and a big rose window in the middle, finished in 1392. Right at the very top of the gable stands a statue of God the Father. It was put up in 1481, a kind of finishing touch to a huge building project.
