You're standing at the Vilnius TV Tower, in the residential district of Karoliniškės. Go on, look all the way up. At 326.5 metres, this is the tallest structure in Lithuania. The tower is really made of three parts. At the bottom there's a hollow pipe of reinforced concrete, 190 metres long. On top of that sits a concrete saucer, and above it a steel spike of 136 metres. The antennas hang on that spike, while the radio transmitters are tucked away in the lower part of the concrete shaft. The whole thing weighs somewhere between 25,000 and 30,000 tonnes.
