Gate of Dawn in Vilnius

You're standing at the Gate of Dawn, Aušros Vartai in Lithuanian. It's one of the most important monuments in Vilnius and a major Catholic pilgrimage site in Lithuania. Start with the outside of the gate. See those small openings in the wall? Those are firing holes. They're a reminder that this was once simply part of the city's defences.
