You're standing at the Cittadella, the old citadel high above Victoria on Gozo. Take a look around. This hill rises above the countryside, and from the walls you can see long stretches of the coast. That's exactly why people have lived here since the Bronze Age. In Roman times this was the acropolis of a town called Gaulos.
