You're standing at Phlius, or at what's left of it. This was once an independent Greek city-state, right near modern Nemea in the Peloponnese. Take a look around. You're in a small valley, about 270 metres above sea level, with mountains on every side. Streams run down those slopes into the river Asopus in the middle of the plain. In ancient times, this valley was famous for its wine.
