You're standing at the Temple of Hera in Olympia, also known as the Heraion. It sits on the north side of the Altis, the sacred precinct of ancient Olympia. It's a ruin now, but a very special one. This is the oldest temple at Olympia and one of the earliest Doric temples in all of Greece. It went up around 590 BC, most likely built by the nearby town of Skillous.
