You're standing on Maiden Castle, an Iron Age hillfort about two and a half kilometres southwest of Dorchester. Take a look at those huge green waves rolling across the landscape. They aren't natural hills. They're ramparts and ditches, built by people. On the south side you can count four ramparts, on the steep north side three.
