You're standing at Roskilde Cathedral, the church where the kings and queens of Denmark are buried. First, look at the two slender, pointed spires. They only arrived in 1633, a gift from King Christian the Fourth. The church itself is much older. It was built in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, and it's one of the earliest Gothic cathedrals in Scandinavia to be built in brick. Since 1995 it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
