You're standing at Hammershus, on the northwestern tip of Bornholm. This is the largest castle ruin in Northern Europe. Have a look around. The fortress sits on a rock seventy-four metres above the sea. On the sea side, the cliffs drop steeply, and on the other sides the ground is rough and hard going. You could hardly pick a better spot for a stronghold.
